5 Unexpected Things Sonam Did at Her Wedding!
The trendsetter of Indian’s Tinseltown, Sonam Kapoor got married earlier this month to her long-time boyfriend Anand Ahuja. The much talked (and stalked) about summer wedding was totally dreamy. Sonam did wear a traditional bridal red lehenga for her wedding, but there’s a lot of things she did that broke traditions and started trends. Here are some of them:
White Outfit for a Wedding Function
There are always aunties who say wearing white to a wedding event is inauspicious. Well Sonam was a vision in white and gold at her mehendi sangeet. In fact, white seemed to be the theme of the night as the entire Kapoor family (and many of the guests) wore white, cream or ivory. Sonam and her sister Rhea both wore creations by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. Rhea even wore sneakers under her lehenga!
Fancy Five-Star Wedding Destination? Nah
The Anand Karaj (Sikh marriage ceremony) took place in Sonam’s aunts bungalow in Bandra. Granted it’s a stunning heritage property, but it still shows that more than the place, it’s the people that matter.
For all the events, Sonam’s makeup was never over the top. When she wore a neutral-toned lehenga for her wedding party, she had thick lashes and black eyeliner to go with her red lipstick. Her hair was sleek and straight. For all the other events, her makeup was simple and natural. For the wedding itself, she just had a thin strip of eyeliner, light shimmery shadow, light pink blush and red tinted lips with a hint of gloss.
Footwear as Wedding Favour?
To probably say what a great pair they are, Sonam and Anand gave away a pair of juttis as a wedding favour. They were cream coloured with mirror and sequin work all over. The note with each pair said “Here’s a little something to share our joy. Hope you had a wonderful day with us.”
For her mehendi sangeet, Sonam had a thick braid with a gajra entwined around it. This was perfect for a summer affair and it looked romantic, fresh and fashionable.
Sonam really enjoyed herself and it showed. She was smiling throughout.
